Option 1
1. Place chicken feet in the pot.
2. Add water at least ¾ the way up in a Crockpot.
3. Add liberal amount of Sea Salt. (I tend to use Redmond Real Salt or Celtic Sea Salt)
4. Cook on Low Temp setting for 6 hours.
a. If you can only find a whole chicken, then you will remove it at this time.
b. Remove the bones & place them back into the Crockpot.
5. Add fresh herbs ideally or dried herbs
.
6. Cook for another 12-18 hours.
Ingredients:
Chicken Feet
Filtered Water
Sea Salt
Black Pepper
Garlic
Paprika
Rosemary
Thyme
Parsley (Optional)
Cayenne (Optional)
**Note: The longer you cook, the more time you give the cartilage, amino acids, and glycosaminoglycans to dissipate into the liquid. It should turn into a gelatinous consistency when cooled.
Storage: 3-5 days in the fridge
Place in the freezer if not consuming soon.
Option 2
1. Place beef knuckles into the Crockpot
2. Add water.
3. Add liberal amount of Sea Salt.
4. Cook on Low Temp for 8-10 hours.
5. Add fresh herbs.
6. Cook for another 12-18 hours.
You will be amazed at how much Bone Broth you end up with so be prepared to give some away or place into the freezer for long-term storage.
**Note: If you want to give some to your pets, then wait to put the full Sea Salt, black pepper, & cayenne in until later because they tend to like it bland. Scoop some out around the 18-hour mark.
